President’s Message September 2024

Dear CAA Members,

As we continue to advance in our industry, it’s crucial to recognize the outstanding efforts of the Security Industry Alarm Coalition (SIAC) and the significant role they play in California. SIAC has been instrumental in ensuring that our industry not only adapts to change but thrives in the face of new challenges. Their work has been foundational in bridging the gap between law enforcement and the security sector, fostering collaboration that benefits us all—businesses, law enforcement, and the communities we serve.

SIAC’s involvement in California is particularly impactful. They’ve been at the forefront of important initiatives that have reshaped alarm management practices across the state, ensuring that our industry remains relevant and respected. Their ability to engage with law enforcement at both the state and local levels has led to significant advancements, such as the implementation of streamlined emergency response protocols and the development of balanced alarm ordinances that support both public safety and industry growth.

I want to take a moment to personally acknowledge the incredible contributions of Steve Keefer and Stan Martin. Steve’s dedication to building strong relationships with law enforcement and his proactive approach in our communities have been invaluable. Meanwhile, Stan’s leadership and unwavering commitment have guided SIAC through numerous challenges, ensuring that our industry’s voice is heard loud and clear.

However, the continued success of SIAC’s work depends on the support of all of us within the industry. As a non-profit organization, SIAC relies on our contributions to maintain its advocacy efforts. Given the current financial challenges they face, it’s more important than ever that we rally together to ensure they have the resources needed to continue their critical work.

I urge each of you to consider how you can support SIAC, whether through financial contributions, active participation in local events, or by helping to spread the word about the essential work they do. By supporting SIAC, we are investing in the future of our industry and safeguarding the progress we’ve made.

Together, we can ensure that SIAC remains a strong advocate for us all, helping to navigate the complex landscape of public safety and security in California.

Thank you for your continued dedication to the California Alarm Association and our shared mission.

Warm regards,

Sean Cooke
